Jim and Lyn Baker

symphony honors

Each year the Symphony honors an individual or a couple who have made a difference to the Symphony and to the cause of beautiful music in our community.  The "Symphony Honors" was created upon the occasion of the 20th Annual Symphony Ball in 2008, to celebrate those special people who love and generously support the San Luis Obispo Symphony.

Symphony Honors 2010
Lyn and Jim Baker

For almost 22 years, Lyn and Jim Baker have attended the Symphony Ball, bidding on and winning many a treasure at Symphony auctions and taking delight knowing they are helping to make beautiful music come alive in San Luis Obispo County. They have been enthusiastic and generous concert sponsors, musician sponsors, Youth Symphony supporters and loyal subscribers as well.  In truth, our entire community owes these two a debt of gratitude. Not only do they open their checkbook year in and year out for the Symphony, but they are also generous supporters of the Performing Arts Center, the Master Chorale, Youth Outreach for the PAC, and the Pacific Repertory Opera.  All of the above prompted Cal Poly to award them the prestigious Cal Poly President’s Arts Award in 1998.

“Jim and Lyn give of their time, resources, and energy like no one I have ever known, expecting nothing in return.”  - Sandy Dunn, SLO Symphony Past President

For spreading the joy of music through generous philanthropy, active participation and love, the Symphony gratefully honors Lyn and Jim Baker.

Tribute Messages
You can help us to honor the Bakers by placing a special Tribute message in our Symphony Ball commemorative program.  You’ll be supporting a cause close to their hearts while at the same time letting them know how much you appreciate their gifts to our community.  Simply jot down your thoughts and best wishes and we will design an ad to complement your words.
