20th Annual Ball Celebrated with Honors
For twenty years the Symphony has presented this elegant evening of dining, dancing and the silent and live auctions, all in support of the Symphony's music education and artistic programs.
Every year the Ball has a different theme, ranging from a 1940’s USO party, to Chicago, to Scheherazade or last year’s A Night at the Oscars. This year’s Ball has been christened An Evening in the Orient and will feature beautiful Asian décor, exotic costumes and valuable auction treasures inspired by the Far East. A Celebrity Wine Collection, featuring an entire cellar's worth of fine wine, autographed and donated by local luminaries, will be offered in a grand prize drawing. The evening will also boast the very first Symphony Honors celebration.
Symphony Honors
To mark the 20th anniversary of this gala event, the Symphony Board of Directors has chosen to honor two individuals who are well known for their generous long term support of the Symphony, having been donors for more than forty years. Also well known for their support of Cal Poly, the Economic Opportunity Commission, Hospice Partners and virtually the entire Central Coast arts community, these two individuals have truly made an art out of their philanthropy.
On February 23, 2008, the Symphony will honor
Clifford W. Chapman and Gene A. Shidler.
Reservations for the Symphony Ball are $120 per person and include a sumptuous dinner, prepared by Chef Paul Kwong, live music by Oasis, and dancing till midnight. Guests are invited to bring their own special wine for their tables and the Symphony will pay the corkage fee.
Festivities for the evening will also include an exclusive, pre-Ball Emperor’s Reception, held in honor of Mr. Chapman and Mr. Shidler, on the second floor terrace at the Embassy Suites. Friends of the couple who purchase special “Tribute” advertisements in the Symphony Ball program book will receive an invitation to the private Emperor's Reception.
If you would like to contribute your thoughts, congratulations or best wishes to these "Symphony Honors" recipients, please call (805) 543-3533 or email the Symphony for a reply card.
