Music Education Director Needed
The Music Education Director for the San Luis Obispo Symphony and Youth Symphony will be a dynamic manager of people and time, enthusiastic about the magic that is music. This executive level position demands a person with proven management and supervision skills, an excellent communicator and problem-solver. To succeed in the vibrant atmosphere of this successful community orchestra, the Music Ed Director will be responsible for and advocate on behalf of existing programs, such as the Youth Symphony, after school string instruction, and school partnerships. Researching new programs and guidelines will be an important part of their responsibilities. Must have the ability and desire to thrive in a fast-paced, upbeat (pun intended!) environment that makes the most of the diverse mix of creative people who work here.
Night and weekend hours are common, as is lifting up to 35 pounds, and mastery of all Windows Office applications is essential. Must be able to pass California DOE fingerprint and criminal background checks. Knowledge of classical music and the current California school system arts education reform issues are a big plus.
