No prior music experience required!

Under the direction of Camp Director Margaret Whitson, the Prelude Summer Music Camps will provide an introduction to playing a stringed instrument and to the FUN of music!

The Prelude Summer Music Camp is especially designed for beginning or inexperienced music students entering grades 3 through 6.  If your child has never played an instrument and shows interest in taking lessons, this is the summer camp for you!  Fun musical activities and special guest artists will introduce campers to other instruments in the orchestra, including percussion, woodwinds and brass.  At the end of the week, there will be a fun "show-and-tell" for friends and family.

Make it a MUSICAL summer!

Camp Director The San Luis Obispo Symphony's Intermezzo String Workshop was developed by musician and educator Margaret Whitson as a chamber music opportunity for students who have 1-2 years experience on their violin, viola, or cello, and who are new to ensemble playing.  The workshop includes basics of music history, theory, rhythm, key signature recognition and sight reading.  A great way to prepare for Youth Symphony kick-off in the fall!
