Benjamin Britten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra! Monday, March 30, 2009
9:30am & 11:30am Christopher Cohan Center, San Luis Obispo
This year's ever-popular Children's Concert will feature one of the most well-known orchestral works written especially for the young listener: English composer Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.
Maestro Nowak will guide your students through each and every section and instrument of the orchestra through Britten's music. Children will learn about each family of instruments― strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Adding to the fun, the orchestra will also perform selected music from the Symphony’s in-school Everyday Etudes music-listening program, including Aaron Copland’s Saturday Night Waltz from the ballet Rodeo, which will also feature dancers from Ballet Theatre San Luis Obispo under the direction of Theresa Slobodnik. Always accessible, and immensely entertaining, Maestro Nowak continues to find new ways to make this concert a favorite event among students and teachers alike.
A credit card is required to process online reservations. If you would like to pay for your tickets by check or cash, please call: (805) 543-3533, Extension #103
