4TH GRADE TEACHERS:
Are you looking for a cultural tie in for your studies of the California Missions? The California Department of Education calls for 4th grade students to be able to analyze the role of music in past and present cultures throughout the world, especially as it pertains to the state of California (California Dept. of Education Standards and Framework, Music, 3.0). The Cuarteto de las Misiones performs music from the Missions’ prime, bringing to life the unique collaboration between the European padres who founded them and the Chumash and Salinan people who helped build them. Enrich your students’ understanding of the Native Americans’ contribution to Mission life with a visit from the Cuarteto de las Misiones.
For more information or to schedule the Cuarteto at your school, please call Jaime Lewis at (805) 543-3533, Extension #103 or email jaime@slosymphony.com.
The Cuarteto de las Misiones is a part of the Children’s Creative Project.
