The Debut Strings ensemble is designed as a beginning string orchestra for advanced beginners who want the FUN of playing in a group, but who might not feel quite ready for the Youth Symphony.  Under the direction of Symphony musician Margaret Whitson, the program's focus will be ensemble training and will include the basics in music theory, history, rhythm and key signature recognition and sight reading. 

An audition is not required to enroll, but due to the goals of the program, all prospective members must be able to meet the following requirements:

• the ability to easily identify and play notes and basic rhythms on your instrument when sight-reading any new music
• a recomendation from your string teacher
